SunSet STT - Scaleable Test Toolkit

The Next-Generation, Scalable Solution for Communications Network Testing

** LATEST NEWS - 40G SDH/SONET / 43G OTN MODULE NOW AVAILABLE - LATEST NEWS **

STT ONE Module

The STT has become a standard tester for many carriers and service providers around the world, with particular features that match the challenge of testing both legacy and next generation networks based on NGN SDH/SONET, OTN and EoS (VCAT, GFP, and LCAS), and Metropolitan Ethernet with Stacked VLAN (Q-in-Q) and MPLS . From gigabit to 10 gig to 40G. The modular design offers unmatched flexibility, an intuitive user interface with a bright 10.4" touch screen, and changeable test modules supporting the design, installation, and maintenance of core, transport, metro and access networks, services and devices.

STT chassis

The STT chassis provides a rugged stand-alone portable instrument - a control module with an intuitive user interface through a bright 10.4" touch screen, a mains/battery power module, and the ability to add multiple test modules.

The STT platform can be configured with different test modules available, to accommodate multiple testing needs and applications, providing flexibility and maximizing the return on investment. Run multiple tests at the same time. Share test modules among different STT platforms. Even operate a test module independently with a standard PC, providing 100% of their testing capabilities, so they don't have to sit in a shelf collecting dust while the STT comes back from the field. The STT offers a whole new set of rules for optical network testing- yours!

Highlights

  • Maximum flexibility including multiple tests and remote control
  • Portable, battery-powered instrument (battery option)
  • Windows® Operating System
  • Ultra Bright, wide viewing angle, 10.4 inch touch screen
  • Test modules support a wide range of applications
  • Modules can be operated locally or remotely
  • Suitable for field and central office operation
  • Patent-pending modular design ensured to evolve with your network

STT Modules

STT modules cover a very wide range of test needs - from troubleshooting fibre, installing DWDM equipment, or troubleshooting data traffic, right up to qualifying 10Gigabit ethernet links, 40G SDH/SONET and 43G OTN links.

The STT concept also allows organisations to optimise their use of test equipment to match the way they work. In particular, STT modules can be used in 3 ways:

  • Stand-alone - remotely controlled across a network
  • Stand-alone - locally controlled from a standard PC
  • Housed in a portable STT chassis - either singly or in combination with other modules.
STT Modules Features
ONE

The STT Optical Network Expert (ONE) is for testing emerging technologies such as OTN (ITU-T G.709) and next-generation SDH/SONET, as well as traditional SDH/SONET, offering service providers a complete solution for today's metro and core networks. By integrating OTN and EoS (VCAT, GFP, and LCAS) testing into a single, compact unit, the STT ONE module is extremely cost effective because it eliminates the need for multiple instruments. >>more info

  • OTN OTU-1 and OTU-2
  • SDH, SONET, and EoS to 10 Gbps
  • GFP, LCAS, VCAT
  • Differential delay generation
  • Optical power and frequency measurements
10G Ethernet

The STT 10G Ethernet Module is designed for the qualification, installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Metro networks from 10/100M up to Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet , plus 1 and 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel. Its application-based, Windows user interface optimizes testing time and minimizes time spent on test configuration and training. The STT Ethernet Module covers BER and Throughput testing across Layers 1, 2, and 3 and includes powerful packet decoding all the way to Layer 7. >>more info

  • 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet
  • 10 GigE: LAN & WAN
  • Layer 1, 2, and 3, VLAN, MPLS
  • BERT and RFC 2544, IP Testing, Packet Capture & Decode
  • Multi-port and Multi-stream
40G

The STT 40G Module provides a flexible test and measurement solution for high speed transport networks such as 40G SDH/SONET (STM-256/OC-768) and 43G OTN (OTU3). With payload structure down to VC12, VC11, VT1.5, and VT2, it offers service providers a complete test solution for today's and tomorrow's Metro, Core, and DWDM transport networks. >>more info

  • OTN, SDH, SONET in one instrument
  • 10/10.7G auxiliary port to interconnect STT-40G module with other 10G systems
  • Fully independent or can be combined with other test modules to enhance application
  • Internal SDH/SONET mapping down to VC12, VC11, VT1.5, VT2
  • Complete performance tests and analysis for point to point links and DWDM networks
  • Comprehensive SDH/SONET/OTN overhead control and decode
  • Auto-configuration
  • Stand-alone operation (no platform required)
  • Complies to ITU-T, Telcordia, and ANSI standards
Metro

The STT Metro Module is designed for the installation, maintenance, and verification of packet-based metropolitan and transport networks. By combining thorough, accurate statistics with versatile traffic generation options, the STT Metro is ideal for turning up and troubleshooting complex, multi-layered voice, video, and data services. The STT Metro module is a perfect companion to the STT ONE module for next-generation Ethernet over SONET/SDH networks, verifying network integrity and throughput from both Ethernet and SONET/SDH interfaces. >>more info

  • IP connectivity testing
  • Bidirectional monitoring of live networks
  • Packet capture with decoding up to Layer 7
CWDM and DWDM

The xWDM Module combines a full band Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA), a Tunable Wavelength Drop, and a Tunable Wavelength Converter. It provides the testing solutions needed to handle the toughest DWDM and CWDM installation and maintenance problems with ease. The OSA reveals physical layer problems with wavelength, power, and OSNR. The tunable wavelength drop allows selection of a specific channel in the signal for Layer 2 and Layer 3 testing. The wavelength converter takes the input signal and transmits it on the ITU-WDM grid. Never before has such comprehensive payload analysis been possible from within the DWDM network >>more info
